Hello, academic crisis. I guess it's to be expected every term. Also, is it usually around the second half of your third year that you come to the realisation that you're not as smart as originally thought?

Where Kim is a very big-brained fish in a tiny pond (cesspool), I feel like the smallest microbe in the largest ocean.

I get to work five days this week. I especially love closing the store only to have to open it the very next morning. Waking up at 6:30am should not be allowed. But it's ok I have Kim's Tiny Mix Tape of Iron & Wine which I'll play for the three hours when I'm alone. Sweet, sweet Sam Beam. I especially love that the first two lines of the whole cd is "Tonight we're the sea and the salty breeze. The milk from your breast is on my lips." Ha!

I'll not go into details of Christmas since it was generally uneventful. I did get a very good book about fin-de-siecle Vienna and a Prague travel book from Kim. But only because I chose them myself.

James was called a "JUNGLE TIGER!" and an osselat. What the hell is an osselat? I don't even know how to spell it. My uncle, when seeing his little fluffy white dog that resembles a lamb approach my cat (twice the size), asked first if he had claws and when hearing the answer was yes told his dog to get away from him. The dog just wanted to make friends but James wasn't having any of it.

I heart the Italian artist Giorgio Maria Griffa. I found his site when looking for a picture of a boat to paint on the giant canvas which Kim also bought me. He does these really lonely paintings of shipwrecks and collages of whaling which I like very much.

Arcade Fire!
